Kristina Bennett is a Professional Vocal Instructor, Beginner Guitar Teacher, Musician, Songwriter, Sound Practitioner and Performer in California.  She has been singing, acting, and performing for over 30 years, and has been working with clients privately for 10 plus years now.

Trained at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Kristina, studied Music Business & Music Therapy, with her main instrumental focus on the Voice.  She also earned her certificate in Sound, Voice, & Music Healing, at the California Institute of Integral Studies in June 2014.

In addition to her comprehensive music background, she has a BA in Psychology & Sociology from the University of Massachusetts.

To continue her own musical & cultural education, Kristina traveled to India in January 2015, to study Classical Indian Singing/Music under the world renowned, grammy-nominated performer, Silvia Nakkach, MA, MMT, and Dr. Ritwik Sanyal, India’s most notable, and honored Dhrupad singer.

In the summer of 2016, Kristina toured as Luminescent, with the Biketopia Music Collective, where she toured by bicycle (all equipment, amps, instruments, mics, etc.) were carried on the backs of cargo bikes. No automobiles were included in the carrying of equipment unless an emergency occurred. She performed approximately 33 shows in Canada, Washington, Oregon, and California, riding between 1200-1300 miles. The performances were pedal-powered sound generated, where audience members rode stationary bikes, fueling the sound system and music festivals. She continues to perform and tour as Luminescent, throughout California and elsewhere, sharing her gift of music, deep love of the environment, and education.

Kristina released a solo album in 2008 entitled, Mermaid Tattoos, and has performed extensively throughout her life on the East Coast, West Coast, Europe, and India. She has taught in social services, schools, group sound/yoga workshops, and on an individual basis.

Currently she is set to release 3 EP’s, collaborations in three different settings, forms, and with world-class musicians, recorded in Oakland and San Diego, in the Fall of 2018.

Kristina’s approach to teaching is to tailor lessons according to each client’s specific individual goals, needs, and desires.

Technique, proper breath control, range development, improvisation, music theory, ear training, songwriting, arranging, and performance coaching are all part of her curriculum. Her youngest student is 4, and her oldest is in their 70’s. She teaches everything from Pop, Country, Jazz/Blues, Classic/Indie Rock, Punk, Musical Theater, R&B, Electronica, and a splash of Opera.

In addition to her teaching, she also offers Sound Treatment Sessions.  With the use of crystal bowls, tuning forks, shruti box, toning, breath work, mantras, vocals, chanting, meditation, and yoga, clients are given a gentle yet rejuvenating session.  They will also learn simple and effective coping skills to use themselves, in times of stress, anxiety, or even just as an energizer.

Kristina’s extremely unique and rich background has enabled her to bridge the Western & Eastern Musical modalities together, offering a beautiful authentic style of teaching, and therefore learning experience for her clients.
