So I started singing and bebopping in my high chair to any song that made me groove. I was definitely an extroverted loving little soul sista who was never at a loss for an imagination, creative idea, or musical thought. I was a free-spirited, flowers in my hair, singer-songwriter from the very beginning. For as long as I can remember I only wanted to sing ~ I was a songbird forever.
My intelligent and wonderful Madre signed me up for private vocal lessons at The Cape Cod Conservatory (I’m a born and raised Massachusetts girl), with the amazing Donna Prypin. I studied under Donna for about 11 years and I loved every minute of it. While I was in High School, I acted in every play under the direction of John Sullivan, and eventually landed the lead role my senior year. This opened up the opportunity for me to work with Walt Disney Productions on Cape Cod the summer before I went to college.
My first year in college I studied opera under Don Wilkinson, a performing vocalist with the Boston Symphony. I then applied to Berklee College of Music and was accepted as a vocalist. Once there, I studied Music Business for two years, and Music Therapy for one year. I first tried to learn the bass and then changed to guitar to begin accompanying myself. I was immersed in music morning, noon, and night. It was amazing to say the least.
I then decided to attend The University of Massachusetts to obtain my Psychology & Sociology degree to expand upon my Music Therapy studies. Soon thereafter I moved to San Diego, California to work in social work as a Mental Health Care Practioner. For three years I worked with children ages 4 ~ 13 using Music Therapy techniques and it was there that I began to write my very first songs. It was also there that I truly realized how short life is and how deeply blessed I was to have the gift of music and song. I soon made the great leap of faith to follow my passion and dreams of a music career, and never looked back.
I began performing through out San Diego and was blessed in meeting brilliantly talented musicians and artists, who helped inspire and create my very first album, Mermaid Tattoos, released in 2008. I was also hired by Takelessons.com, as one of their vocal instructors and beginner guitar coaches in May of 2008. I immediately fell in love with teaching and have been privately teaching since.
Part of the Mermaid Tattoos album was recorded in San Francisco, and I couldn’t wait to move up north to the city. I finally relocated to San Francisco in December of 2008.
Presently, I am one of the top Vocal/Beginner Guitar Instructors through Takelessons.com, and my own private teaching practice is beginning to take off. I also perform quite a bit through the Bay Area, and have once again been incredibly blessed to meet, collaborate with, and be inspired by sensational musicians here in SF. I am continually humbled and in awe of the musicians/people I meet, the magic of this city, and my spectacular life. I deeply and sincerely thank all of the people and experiences, who have graced me, & do grace me ~
In my heart of hearts my wish is that my music touches your soul in one way or another ~
Much love & peace always ~ Kristina
